The CY8CKIT-049 is a board sold by Cypress Semiconductor, the manufacturer of the microcontroller on here. This board is relatively cheap for something sold by a western company, therefore I am kinda surprised this board has little popularity with the hobbyist community.
It comes with a snap-off USB-UART, which can be used to program the board, using a pre-flashed bootloader, kinda like an Arduino. I’m not in favour of using an UART to flash the device, as I’d like to be able to do in circuit debugging. So for this, and other reasons, I’ll snap it off when taking such board in use.
