BlaatSchaap.be was founded on 19 july 2005 by André van Schoubroeck and Lars Kjetil Gulbrandsen.

It started on IRC, and IRC has always been the main activity of BlaatSchaap, even though there
have been many other activities as well, like websites, coding, MoonEdit, Gobby, NMDC, ADC and
IceCast2.

The original name was deGekkenClub (dGC). This is dutch, and it means the club of crazy people.
Some traces of this original name can be found in the SourceForge project for the BlaatSchaap
Coding Project, which is called dgcshell. This was the first coding project we had. The coders
were Toni, Lars and André. The project was supposed to become a replacement for the windows shell,
so, that explains the name of the project.
